All of our department's skills cultivated the elegance of "Orchids: A View From the East" at the National Museum of Natural History. Each object on loan required special crating and handling, and exhibit components were detailed in 3-D and cut out on our large format CNC router. We welded reader rail supports, fabricated acrylic object mounts, and constructed a moon gate typical of Chinese gardens. After adding a final glaze to the panels and stuccoing the walls, we transplanted the show into the museum.

The Fabrication unit constructs most of the architectural elements in a show, such as exhibit cases, wall panels, and object mounts. Whether we use traditional equipment or run our CNC (computer numeric controlled) machinery via CAD/CAM software, our cabinetry, brackets, welding, acrylic fabrication, and finishing have both stability and style.

From the workbench to a display space, taking care of an exhibit is the foundation of our every move. We practice expert object-handling, use conservation-approved materials, specially design crates for a show's travel, and install exhibits securely and with finesse.
